I am so very grateful that this has gone to a new home after 10 years of being with me. This is my version of Vincent's bedroom in Arles which I did in 2012 when I started painting. Must say it was pretty challenging then for me as I was working on perspective and angles, etc.
Unfortunately, the real room has done cos the yellow building was destroyed during WWII. I was there some years ago doing plein air and tried to imagine the building being there and managed to paint it as it was. So if you ever go to Arles, you won't see the building and the bedroom, but understand there is a reactment of it at the Institute of Chicago of this room. Not sure if it's still exhibited now. My passion to paint was triggered by his works and his life story. Up till this day, his works are still admired by moi as with millions of others.
