SOLD on March 24, 2019 New home will be in the U.K. to a gentleman who appreciated this as a fading landscape in a fast, urbanising country like Singapore. It's dubbed the last kampong (or village) here and you got to take a 10-minute boat ride to reach the island. Let's hope and pray it will remain forever like this in its beauty for as long as always.
My second in the sea series for the exhibition held on 15 and 16 July 2017. These houses that were built of wood long ago are still there. Had to preserve by painting them just in case they are gone... Used to have around 2,000 inhabitants on the island but there are only 38 remaining now as most have left to work on the mainland. Life is hard and most of those staying there are the older folks who eke out a living by selling drinks, renting out bicycles and fishing.

Lovely way for the gentleman to remember the place he will remember as home, and such a sad situation!

Wonderful landscape painting, Belinda! The peaceful, laid-back look of this tranquil scene hides the difficulties the aged residents face --- revealed in your enlightening description. L&F

Love this gem. I like the way it all goes together with the light and dark. The stilts on the house captured my eye immediately. I Love the mood of this wonderful Image... AWESOME Painting! Favorite!
