Description
Location - Blk 131 #01-01, Toa Payoh Lorong 1, Singapore 310131 (right next to Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream and Coffee (Toa Payoh)
Dimension - approx. 9 feet (2.7 metres). Duration - 2.5 days.
My latest project at a senior day care centre. They wanted the white walls below the windows outside the center to be made 'alive' with colours. As I painted for the last six days, I made friends with passers-by who are mostly residents living in the built-to-order (BTO) apartments in the neighbourhood of Toa Payoh - one of the oldest housing estates in Singapore. This is an estate where people who were living in the kampong or village moved over as living conditions improved in the '60s. This location is a drop-off and pick-up area for families who wait for cars to pick them up and is also right next to a popular ice-cream joint that has shifted from the block across the road.
With yet another wall that's coloured and painted, hopefully this will bring some cheer to the people in the centre as well as to the public.
