Description
FEATURED in Excellent Self-Taught Artists, and The Face While painting this, this song came to mind....I viewed a video by MJ and it showed his brothers when they were young singing together. It touched my heart so much that now I decided to dedicate this to my beloved sister! I was only 9 and she was 6 then. It was a very tiny black and white photo and I said I must preserve whatever memories there are and have them painted onto a larger canvas! Our mom loved to take photos of us together and usually we would wear dresses of the same pattern but somehow we wore differently that day. It looked like another day out but as someone commented, that we didn't look quite happy about standing there and posing for the camera under the sun. It was like we couldn't wait to just get over it. We stayed at our grandma's the week and spent the weekends with our parents. This was an old post war house. It's torn down and replaced with apartments now. We had an enjoyable childhood - so carefree and always playing with the kids in the neighbourhood. Although we lived miles apart now, the love will always remain in our hearts for each other. How we had grew up amidst the turmoils of our youth -- we had come a long way. My one and only wish now is that we are able to visit each other more often. To my friends who have siblings and parents - be appreciative of them and tell them often how much you love them no matter what....
You and I must make a pact
We must bring salvation back
Where there is love I'll be there
I'll reach out my hand to you
I'll have faith in all you do
Just call my name and I'll be there
And oh, I'll be there to comfort you
And build my world of dreams around you
I'm so glad I found you yeah
I'll be there with a love so strong
I'll be your strength
I'll keep holdin' on
Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter
Togetherness well it's all I'm after
whenever you need me and I'll be there
I'll be there to protect you
With an unselfish love that respects you
Just call my name and I'll be there
And oh, I'll be there to comfort you
I Build my world of dreams around you
I'm so glad I found you yeah
I'll be there with a love so strong
I'll be your strength
I'll keep holdin' on
If you should ever find someone new
I know she'd better be good to you
'Cos if she doesn't then I'll be there
Don't you know baby, yeah, yeah
I'll be there, I'll be there
Just call my name and I'll be there
I'll be there baby
You know I'll be there
Just call my name and I'll be there
Just look over your shoulder
Just call my name and I'll be there

Beautiful painting of you and your sister Belinda and thank you for sharing your story. I only have one sister and we are very close but unfortunately she lives in England. We don't get to see each other very often but do speak a couple of times a week. I haven't seen her in two years but she is coming to visit in March... I am so excited:) v/f
Belinda Low replied:
Hi Tessa! Thank you. I am glad to share this with others who had siblings who lived far away like me and who also had similar feelings and emotions. I share also the excitement of your sister's visit. I hope I can see mine this year or the next.

Outstanding painting! v
Belinda Low replied:
Zulfiya - It was my first time painting such small faces and with the whole body and so it was quite challenging but it took away my 'fear' and inhibition for such work. I feel encouraged to paint more of such especially with encouragement from such talented artists like you, dear. Thanks v much!

Debbie Portwood
Love this wonderful work as well! As well as the heart touching story. I have lost both my older and younger sisters as well as Father and Mother. Only me and my younger brother left. I feel the need to reach out to him more now. I remember wearing clothes like this. Mom would see something she liked and then go home and cut and sew it without a pattern. Well, enough rambling for now! :D Awesome work as always! f/love! :D
Belinda Low replied:
Hello Debbie! I want to paint something that will be close to our hearts now. Our mom used to sew clothes with the same pattern for us. So sorry to hear about your loss. Life goes on...Thank you for your continued support, dear.
